John Drew, General Manager for PARTA, officially unveiled the Veterans Memorial in a November dedication ceremony that was moving in many ways.
John and others commemorated Veterans Day by sharing memories of family and friends that have served their country in ways big and small before raising the flag and dedicated the new art piece to Veterans of every age and branch of service.
The ceremony included a well credentialed list of speakers but it was stories they shared of everyday heroes in their lives that wore the uniform with honor, dignity and pride that stole the show.
When Mr. Drew agreed to host a Veterans Memorial on the prominent corner of the new PARTA building we knew we had an opportunity to do something special — and the end result has lived up to that promise.
By its nature artwork means different things to different people so I’ll refrain from offering too many my personal reflections on how good I think the statue is artistically but here’s some good photos for you to judge.
