RoadworkAs part of the Service Department, the Engineering Division is primarily responsible for planning and implementing the capital improvement projects of the City. The Division also maintains City Standards for infrastructure construction, maintains records of the City’s infrastructure, assists other departments in engineering areas and provides inspection services for all public and private construction performed in the City’s right-of-way.

Capital Improvement Projects

The City’s Capital Improvement Projects (PDF) are planned on a five-year cycle updated annually. These projects are located throughout the entire City.

Project Spotlight - Kent Better Block

The Kent Better Block event was held on September 29, 2018 and provided an opportunity for residents, businesses, and the community to temporarily re-imagine North Water Street (the Mill District) and demonstrate short term solutions to address walk-ability and pedestrian safety issues as well as provide a focus on the economic potential of the area.

This event featured interactive and creative outdoor activities, as well as pop up markets supporting local entrepreneurs. Residents and visitors were encouraged to experience the unique history and culture (PDF) of the Mill District and imagine opportunities for the future! View a photo gallery of the event.

Feedback
