Food Safety
The mission of the Food Safety Program is to protect and improve the health of consumers by assuring foods are safe and are not adulterated, misbranded, or falsely advertised.

Housing
All dwellings licensed through the Kent City Health Department and their surroundings are inspected annually by Registered Sanitarians to assure that they are conducive to good health and well-being, and that they are maintained in a manner that will limit deterioration.

Industrial Pretreatment Program
All Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) that have a design capacity of five million gallons per day (or more) are required to implement an Industrial Pretreatment Program (IPP). The purpose of the IPP is to regulate industrial users' waste streams in an effort to prevent discharges that have the potential to inhibit or damage the POTW treatment process.

Routine inspections are performed to monitor water quality as well as physical facilities and equipment that will protect the public from disease and potential accidents.

Rodent Control
Reported rodent sightings are investigated and property owners are instructed in the procedures involved in abating rodent problems to eliminate rodent breeding grounds.

Smoke-Free Ohio
The Kent City Health Department is charged with supporting the Ohio Smoke-Free Law. Ohio's Smoke-Free Workplace Act creates a uniform statewide minimum standard to protect workers and the public from the health hazards associated with exposure to secondhand smoke from tobacco.
