A couple of great PARTA related bus news updates:
- I don’t know how many folks have noticed but thanks to their new compressed natural gas station, PARTA has been able to test a new bus cruising around town that runs on natural gas, and I never thought I’d say these words together — but that’s one cool looking transit bus. Sleek, modern, almost too hip to be a bus. Hopefully that will inspire more riders too.
- Driving by the PARTA Central Gateway building every day, I wanted to say thanks for the great job they’ve done with their landscaping. It looks terrific — even as hot as it’s been the plantings look remarkably healthy, are well mulched, and just convey a great look for one of the most prime properties in downtown Kent.
- With the City and KSU nearing the finish line on the Summit Street traffic improvement project, PARTA will be able to use that corridor for bus routes again and they’re looking at changing the campus loop route that will also include Downtown Kent. That’s great news because the campus loop route currently runs on a 6 minute cycle so riders never have to wait longer than 6 minutes to get a lift around campus. The updated route is going to add a couple of stops downtown so it should be easier than ever to get to downtown and to campus.
And don’t forget, PARTA offers free fare Fridays in July and August so you still have some time to take advantage of the free service*.
