At the Mayor’s suggestion we’re working on organizing a tour for City Council of some local City Halls to help visualize what Kent’s next City Hall could look like.
Nothing helps architectural ideas take on meaning better than seeing those ideas in action so we’re trying to coordinate with some of our neighbors to find a time for Kent City Council members to check out their digs, and hear firsthand what works well, and what the other cities might have changed in their City Hall designs if they could do it again.
Nothing is written in stone yet but so far we’ve lined up the following examples of City Hall buildings for Council to check out:
1. Solon City Hall
2. N. Royalton City Hall
3. Ridgefield City Hall
4. Wadsworth City Hall
Westlake City Hall is also noted for it’s iconic building but we figured that was too far to drive in a 4 hour block of time but if you’re ever in that area it’s worth a stop.
At this point we’re looking at leaving Kent around noon and then driving up to Solon, spending roughly 30-45 minutes in a walking tour with the local Mayor/Staff and then head to N. Royalton for a 30-45 walking tour, then Ridgefield, then Wadsworth, and then return to Kent by 5 pm.
Here’s some pictures that we have of those City Halls, and a couple of other City Halls, to help you get an idea for what we’ll be looking at. We’ll take plenty of pictures on our tour as well and make sure to load them where the public can review them too.
